The Scottish Society of Middle Tennessee

2016 is over and 2017 is knocking on the door.  At the St Andrews Brunch we nominated a new Board and made several announcements regarding dues and fundraising.

SSMT Board

President - Alexa Baker, Vice President - Betsy Taylor, Secretary - Suzanne Burns, Treasurer - Craig McClory, Directors at Large - Don Robinson, Susan Wood, Joan Campbell, Bill Lewis and Shane Neal.

Payment of dues are required on an annual basis for the calendar year.  Dues for 2017 should be paid now.  Family $35, Single $20.  Payment can be made via check to SSMT, PO Box 2914, Brentwood, TN 37024.

Scholarship Fund

The Fund was retitled The Campbell-Parrish fund, to recognize the years of dedication Joan Campbell has given the Society, in conjunction with remembering one of the founder members.  The Fund will be relaunched with a new application process with the intention of assisting members to follow their interest in Scottish history and culture.

Many of the local organizations have fundrasing opportunities where a additional donation can be mad.  We are launching the Three Lochs Fundraiser.  You are invited to make a donation which will go directly towards the Campbell-Parrish fund and you will be recognized at the Burns Supper and in the quartely newsletters.

Loch Lomond - $500+

Loch Ness - $250+

Loch Awe - $50+

Sponsorship of The Burns Supper

The Burns Supper is not a fundraiser for the Society.  Although the Silent Auction does raise a small amount of money for the scholarship fund, this has been decreasing in recent years. We have opportunities for an individual or company to sponsor portions of the Burns supper, e.g. the Haggis, dessert or printing.  Contact us at fpor more information.

The Burns Supper 2017

Plans are underway for the Burns Supper. It will be held at the University Club, and this year we are looking for some audience participation. So if you have a short Burns poem or song you would like to perform, please let us know at

The Board is undertaking a review of the SSMT website to make it more user friendly and are updating our promotional information to attract more members - if you have any ideas let us know at
